Accelerated M.Ed Program for Working Adults

Take your education career to the next level with the Mount’s Master of Education in Instructional Leadership. This evening program is designed for certified teachers who want to become leaders in administration.

Classes meet once per week from 6-10 p.m. on a part-time or full-time basis so that you can balance your job and coursework. The majority of classes are offered in an 8-week format, allowing you to focus on one course at a time.

Coursework covers the following topics:

  • Current trends in education
  • Principles of school leadership and administration
  • Strategic planning and leadership
  • Curriculum, instruction and assessment
  • Improving instruction through supervision
  • Managing school finances
  • Educational policy and school law
Upon program completion, you can seek administrator I or administrator II certification from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

Affordability & Aid

Graduate level programs are designed to be taken one course at a time and program pricing is set by credit hours instead of by the year like traditional undergraduate programs.

  • $22,225 – Estimated total cost of the program, including tuition and fees.*
  • Cost is based on 36 credits (12 classes) at $600 per credit, plus practicum I and II lab fees ($275 & $350 each).*
  • No application fee.
  • Students may transfer in up to 9 graduate credits.

*Tuition and fees represent 2023-24 rates, effective July 1, 2023. Subject to change without notice.

Financial Aid

Students enrolled on at least half-time basis (6-credits per semester) may qualify for financial aid. You may seek financial assistance through federal and state-funded programs, private loan providers, or deferment of undergraduate loans.

  • No application fee.

Application Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
  • Official transcript(s) from all accredited institutions attended after high school.
  • Copy of current valid teaching certificate.
